Multiprotocol Label Switching or (MPLS) is a data-carrying mechanism that belongs to the class of packet-switched networks. Furthermore, an MPLS solution can be used to carry many different kinds of traffic, viz. IP packets, native ATM, SONET and Ethernet frames.
