T1 Line Provider Prices Overview

What's a T1 Connection?

T1 or the Digital Signal 1 (DS-1) is a telecommunications carrier system scheme devised by the Bell Labs. Internet connections through T1 lines enable download and upload speeds of up to 1.544 Mbps, in addition to being backed up by a guarantee of up to 99.9% uptime. Further, these connections can allow hundreds of users, access to the web at the same time. These features make a T1 connection a sought after service for thousands of businesses across the board. Consequently, the T1 prices are higher than a DSL or any other connection.

Types of T1 Connections

A T1 service comes packaged in various forms, and most T1 providers offer you a choice based on your needs. T1 prices vary with the type of connection, the common ones are:

Integrated T1: This is sometimes called as channelized T1, it is a digital carrier modulation method in which the line is divided into 24 channels, and each of the channels has speed of up to 64 Kbps. It allows for all the channels to support a different application at the same time.

Fractional T1: This service is same as the Integrated T-1 line, with the only difference that the customers get to use only some (a fraction) of all twenty-four channels which come along with the integrated version. While the transmission methods and data transfer rates remain the same, benefits come in the form of discounted T1 prices as the customers pay only for the number of channels utilized by them.

Bonded T1: This solution simply combines the functionality and bandwidth of several T1s in to a single connection, enabling Internet access with a compounded bandwidth and superior performance in terms of speed.

Burstable T1: Sometimes referred to as the "pay as you go" T1 service, provides you the functionality of T1, but you only need to pay the T1 providers in proportion to the increased bandwidth, as and when you use it.

Since there are many companies offering the service, T1 line price quotes vary and same is the case with T3 service provider quotes. However, the important aspect to focus on is the reliability of the service than a cheap T1 quote. Some businesses more than others are heavily dependent on the Internet, if yours happens to be the one, then T1 lines are certainly desirable over DSL or any other connection.
