T3 or the Digital Signal 3 (DS-3) is a telecommunications carrier system. A T3 line is equivalent to 28 T-1 lines which enable data transfer at speeds of 44.736 million bits per second approximately 43-45 Mbps for both upstream and downstream data transfer. This powerful system helps in transferring information and data over busy WANs and many T3 providers lend their services to organizations where Internet is critical for their operations viz universities, government offices, and call centers. A typical DS-3 connection can handle 672 voice conversations at a time, naturally T3 prices are higher than a DSL connection.
